Faculty of Biological Sciences
History
The department of biology was established in 1983 with five faculty members. The first degree program offered by this department was BA in teaching biology. After recruiting more faculty members, the department expanded, offering more diverse programs in fields such as microbiology, biotechnology, botany and plant science, zoological science and biochemistry.
The quantitative and qualitative development of the academic personnel and the laboratory equipment in 2014 led to the separation of the department from the faculty of basic sciences. The young "faculty of biological sciences" is currently comprised of 3 departments, 32 faculty members and 750 students at undergraduate and graduate levels.
