Faculty of Mathematical Science
History
The department of mathematics started off around 45 years ago in 1976 with three faculty members offering bachelor's degree in teaching mathematics. After the Islamic revolution, bachelor's program in the two majors of applied mathematics and pure mathematics were also launched which were later complemented by an MSc program in pure mathematics in 2000 and a PhD program in mathematics in 2002. The addition of two other majors of statistics and computer sciences to the department along with developments in the number of personnel and facilities led to the promotion of the department to an independent faculty including several departments of its own in 2013. The faculty of mathematical sciences currently has 23 faculty members and is made of the three departments of mathematics, computer sciences and statistics offering degree programs at different levels.
